From Heartache to Harmony: Angelo & Veronica Share Their Journey Through "Created For You"

Award-winning husband-and-wife duo Angelo & Veronica are back with a powerful new project, Created For You, set to release on August 29, 2025. Known for their soulful harmonies and heartfelt gospel message, the couple continues to inspire listeners with a blend of contemporary Christian, R&B, and Latin influences.
The album features 14 tracks, including the deeply personal "God is Bigger than a Broken Heart," the bilingual worship offering "Padre Nuestro," and the title track "Created for You," which appears in three unique arrangements. With a mix of acapella, soulful ballads, and upbeat praise anthems, Created For You celebrates faith, healing, and the purpose God has placed in every life.
Q: "Created For You" features a diverse mix of acapella, ballads, and upbeat praise songs. How did you decide on the musical direction for this album?
We never discussed a certain musical direction for this album. We just wrote, recorded and produced the songs that God gave us. It just happens to be diverse because we are. We come from different musicals backgrounds and culture. Angelo grew up with a jazz background. I grew up with a lot of Latin music. We're known for our urban gospel but the acapella on this album is a first for us. I remember at Berklee College of Music hearing acapella vocal groups. This is something I always wanted to do. But didn't quite know if it would work with just the two of us.
But after recording the first chorus of "Praise Him" (Acapella), we knew it was going to work. And the other acapella, "I was Created" Pt 1 is the background vocals for "Created for You". I often hate how background vocals get buried in a mix. But making it its own acapella track solved that. The acapella tracks are so new and different for us. Another first for us was singing the "Our Father" (Matt 6:9-13). We loved how it turned out, so we also did it in Spanish. On the Created for You album, we were able to write songs we always wanted to write. Such as "Meant for Good", "Somethin' Mo'" and the lyrics for "Lay Down it All" which describe where the rubber meats the road as far as true Christianity.
Q: "God is Bigger than a Broken Heart" is described as deeply personal. Can you share the story behind this song and why it's so meaningful to you?
Everyone has suffered from a broken heart. And I've realized that the root of many illnesses and ailments emanate from a broken heart. And since we live in a world full of sinners, having a broken heart is inevitable. We've had the biggest broken heart in the last year finding out our daughter was groomed by a man from church since she was 10 years old. There is nothing more heartbreaking when something happens to your child. You'd rather it had happened to you than to them. We've come out publicly with this disturbing story because it needs to be heard.
But no one's heart was broken more than God's son, Jesus. He came to His own and His own rejected Him. Jesus endured the greatest suffering on the cross mankind has ever known, for our sins. And through Jesus Christ laying down His life, He made a way for our hearts to be healed! And for us to be saved. So what the enemy meant for evil, God meant for good.
Q: Your music often blends gospel, R&B, and Latin influences. How do these genres shape your sound and connect with your audience?
We hope it connects with our listeners! We do what feels most natural to us and what we do best. You can't please everyone, so we don't even try. Some of the songs on this album are reminiscent of the 70's and 80's. Some of the songs are reminiscent of the 90's but with modern production and updated sounds. Angelo has become one of the greatest producers and mix engineers I know who can do so many genres.
I was thinking how in the 90's, we toured with the biggest CCM artists and we also toured with the top Gospel artists. We were singing gospel, urban, CCM and love songs (which is totally appropriate for a married couple). Then also singing in Spanish!
Q: You've been ministering through music for over three decades. What has kept your passion strong, and how do you see your ministry evolving with this new release?
That's a hard question. Because everything about the world and the music industry will quench your passion for God. So coming away from the music industry has ignited our faith and passion for God again. It's so crazy because many Christians think the Christian industry is actually Christian, but it is not. We have openly shared about our experience in it for 10 years now at Higher Place Church. At first, we received a lot of push back. But with recent news, people have come back 10 years later saying to us, "Wow, what you've been saying is true"!
So coming away from the industry has made our message stronger and clearer. The most important thing to us now is to make a strong and clear presentation of the gospel. "One True God" almost didn't make it on the album because we thought we had too many songs. But it is a song that clearly conveys the true gospel of Jesus Christ. For anyone reading this, the gospel is simply this; that Jesus died for your sins, that He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1 Corin 15:3-4). And Jesus said, repent and believe the gospel (Mk 1:15).
This is what's missing in the Christian and Gospel music industry of today. You're not encouraged to share this because it doesn't sell records. I pray that God will allow this new release to go around the world. I want to hear one day that it was our music that lead people to the Lord! That would the greatest reward for our work.
Q: Alongside your music, you lead Healing Ministries (Higher Place Church) and offer vocal coaching. How do these aspects of your work complement the message of "Created For You"?
There was a couple things that inspired "Created For You" lyrically and musically. What inspired the music, was Angelo sitting at our piano one day, playing some beautiful jazzy cord changes. It reminded me of a time when I actually hadn't even met him yet. He was a very young man and was traveling and playing with jazz and R&B show bands back in the late 70's. I wanted to write a song and melody especially for his voice reminiscent of that era. The 70's was such golden age for real musicians and singers, before electronic music. So the song has a very retro feel, yet modern and classic. It encompasses the genres that he plays and sings the best, jazz, R&B and soul.
The thing I just discovered about Angelo is that he was a musician first, not a singer. He'd rather play than sing! I honestly did not realize this about my husband until very recently. Also, we had a special guest musician on "Created for You", Angelo's friend who he grew up playing with in those bands in the late 70's. His name is Jimmy Earl and is a world famous bass player now and plays on a very well known late night talk show.
As far as lyrically, the song is based on Isaiah 43:7 "Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him." It is such a beautiful scripture about our purpose and why we were created. We were formed and created especially for His use and our purpose is to bring Him glory. And it is an honor to create for God. Every note, every song for Him.
The Master Your Voice training we offer not only teaches other singers but keeps our vocal technique in shape, too!
Q: Tell us more about the new Angelo and Veronica radio.
This is something that just came about all of sudden. We had posted about needing a new website and someone volunteered. This person asked us if we'd be interested in having our own radio. We were skeptical at first. Then a few days later, he sent us a link. It was Angelo & Veronica radio! We were stunned, but surprisingly we are enjoying it ourselves. We thought we'd have a difficult time listening to our own work. But the quality is top notch. I honestly have never heard a radio station with such high quality. We will not only have our music but short messages, prayer and whatever we feel God is putting in our hearts at the time. Plus, we will stream our church messages. Angelo & Veronica Radio is commercial free and 24/7.
