John Mark McMillan Steps Away from Full-Time Music & Announces Final Tour

After more than two decades of shaping the soundscape of modern worship and independent music, acclaimed singer-songwriter John Mark McMillan has announced that his Fall 2025 tour will be his last full tour, marking the end of an extraordinary chapter in his career.
In a heartfelt statement shared with fans, McMillan revealed that he is stepping away from full-time music to focus on new ventures, including writing books, mentoring a new generation of creatives abroad, and pursuing local projects. He cited both a desire for a new creative season and the economic realities of today's music industry as key factors in the decision.
"It's been a beautiful 20 years, and you guys have been the best part," McMillan shared. "After this Fall tour, my touring days are finished, at least for the foreseeable future. Music will always be part of my life, but it's time for me to enter a new phase."
McMillan rose to international prominence with his 2005 anthem "How He Loves," a song that became a modern worship classic covered by artists including David Crowder Band, Jesus Culture, and Kim Walker-Smith. Known for his poetic lyricism and genre-bending sound that fuses rock, folk, and worship, McMillan has released nine studio albums, including the landmark The Medicine (2008), the chart-topping Borderland (2014), and his latest project, Cosmic Supreme (2025). His work has earned him a devoted following that spans churches, concert halls, and independent music circles worldwide.
Over the course of his career, McMillan has become one of the most respected voices in the faith and indie music landscape, not only for his songwriting but also for his authenticity, vulnerability, and commitment to artistic integrity. His music has consistently bridged the gap between raw personal storytelling and the language of worship.
Though stepping back from full-time touring, McMillan assured fans he will still make occasional appearances at special events and join friends for select performances in the future.
The Fall 2025 Farewell Tour will visit 16 cities across the United States, giving fans one final opportunity to experience McMillan's powerful live performances.
