Christian Author John Bevere Calls for Boldness in Wake of Charlie Kirk’s Death

In response to the tragic death of conservative activist and Christian leader Charlie Kirk, acclaimed author and preacher John Bevere has issued a heartfelt statement urging believers to rise in courage and continue speaking truth with boldness. Bevere, who recalled speaking with Kirk on three occasions, described him as "a statesman, a very kind man, very strong and resolute ... mighty in truth." He expressed deep sympathy for Kirk's widow, Erika, and their two children, while also pointing to Scripture as a reminder that death in Christ is not an end, but a seed for greater witness and fruitfulness. "Don't let his death be in vain," Bevere said. "Thousands of Charlie Kirks will rise up in this nation; because the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church."
Charlie Kirk, 31, was the co-founder of Turning Point USA, a prominent conservative youth organization in the United States. He was also an author, speaker, and media personality known for mobilizing young people around conservative, free-market, and faith-inspired values. Married to Erika Frantzve, with whom he shared two children, Kirk was recognized as one of the most influential voices in shaping faith-driven political engagement in America.
On September 10, 2025, Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University as part of his "American Comeback Tour." He later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection with the attack, and he now faces charges including aggravated murder. The shocking event has drawn widespread reactions from leaders across the political and faith spectrum.
In his message, Bevere pointed to the Apostle Paul's words in Philippians 1, where Paul explained that even his imprisonment served to advance the Gospel by emboldening others to speak the Word without fear. He urged Christians to see Kirk's death in a similar light, as a call to greater boldness. "We are in a time of war. The most unloving thing you can do is watch someone walk toward a cliff and say nothing. Charlie wasn't that kind of man. He spoke truth. He loved by warning. And now it is our turn to carry that mantle," Bevere declared.
Bevere concluded by honoring Kirk's life and family while issuing a challenge to the Church: "I celebrate Charlie, Erika, and his two children. I want to thank you again, Charlie, for the army that will rise because of your martyrdom. Church; let's not retreat. Let's speak with boldness as Paul's companions did when he was imprisoned. Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, 'I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.' Charlie's death does not stop the work of God; it will only raise up more men and women who will proclaim truth with courage."
