Renowned Pastor, Author, and Theologian Voddie Baucham Passes Away at 56
The global Christian community is mourning the passing of Dr. Voddie T. Baucham, Jr., who died on September 25, 2025, at the age of 56 following an emergency medical incident.
Dr. Baucham was a pastor, theologian, author, and educator whose ministry touched lives around the world. Born on March 11, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, he rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most recognized voices in evangelical Christianity. Known for his powerful preaching, commitment to biblical truth, and passion for equipping families, he authored numerous influential works, including Family Driven Faith and Fault Lines: The Social Justice Movement and Evangelicalism's Looming Catastrophe.
After serving for many years as pastor of Grace Family Baptist Church in Spring, Texas, Baucham accepted a call to Zambia, where he became the Dean of Theology at African Christian University. In that role, he helped shape a new generation of pastors and leaders across Africa, combining academic rigor with a deep commitment to Scripture. His ministry was marked by a distinctive ability to address cultural challenges through the lens of historic Christian orthodoxy.
In 2021, Dr. Baucham faced a major health crisis after suffering heart failure, a battle he endured with faith and courage. Despite these challenges, he continued his writing and speaking ministry, inspiring audiences around the world with both his resilience and his message of hope in Christ.
Dr. Baucham is survived by his wife, Bridget, their nine children, and grandchildren. His legacy endures through his family, his writings, his students, and the countless lives he touched with his teaching.
Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be announced in the coming days.
