Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released worldwide on May 6, 2016. It serves as a sequel to last year's "Man of Steel" major blockbuster. The movie is now being filmed under the direction of Zack Snyder from a screenplay penned by Chris Terrio based on a story co-written by Snyder with David Goyer.
Although the movie's plot is still not known, the title suggests that the Dark Knight's brand of justice-at-any-cost pragmatism may likely get in the way of the Man of Steel's resolve to play-by-the-rules no-matter-what idealism as they both work to save the day for earth and humanity. The title also suggests that it could be an origin story for the Justice League of America.
Henry Cavill will be reprising his role as Clark Kent/Superman while Ben Affleck will star as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Others confirmed to be in the cast include Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth and Jesse Eisenberg as arch-criminal Lex Luthor. Israeli actress Gal Gadot who made her film debut in Fast & Furious 4 stars as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. Holly Hunter will portray a US Senator while Tao Okamoto will be Lex Luther's assistant Mercy Graves in the film.
Aside from Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, there will be other superheros from the DC comic book universe, all founding members of the Justice League, who will be making their first live-action appearance in the movie. Theater actor Ray Fisher will play Victor Stone/Cyborg while Jason Momoa, according to unconfirmed sources, has been cast as Arthur Curry/Aquaman.
