Jelly Roll Announces Plans For Free 100-Acre Addiction Recovery And Mental Health Campus

Country-rap artist Jelly Roll is transforming his powerful personal story of addiction, incarceration, and redemption into a mission to help others. The multi-award-winning musician has announced plans to build a 100-acre rehabilitation and mental health campus on his property in Tennessee - a first-of-its-kind project designed to provide free, holistic care for individuals battling addiction and mental health challenges.
The campus will offer comprehensive, wraparound programs that integrate addiction recovery, mental health treatment, and wellness therapies at no cost to participants. For Jelly Roll (real name Jason DeFord), the initiative reflects a deeply personal commitment to serve those who walk the same difficult road he once traveled.
"Imagine drug addicts like you and like us, poor kids, like we're just down, when life was kicking our a**," Jelly Roll said. "And now think about the resources that we have that could have helped us so much in those moments."
The facility will blend traditional 12-step programs with experiential and community-based recovery activities, including motivational retreats, therapy sessions, outdoor recreation, and even mudding-each designed to foster belonging, purpose, and resilience.
"You'll have a traditional 28-day, 12-step style, but then we'll have intensive programs as well for therapy and mental health," he explained.
Big Mike, a longtime friend and recovery advocate who has been involved in the project, said Jelly Roll's vision is rooted in authenticity and gratitude. "He's truly dedicated to helping the community that helped him survive," Mike shared. "This isn't about fame or headlines-it's about giving people hope."
Jelly Roll has long used his platform to speak openly about the cycles of addiction, incarceration, and recovery. His music-spanning hit songs like Save Me and Need a Favor-often chronicles those struggles while offering messages of perseverance and grace. With this new project, he hopes to turn those words into action.
"I think about the resources that could have helped us back then," he said. "Now we can finally build them."
Construction on the Tennessee campus is expected to begin in the coming months, with plans to collaborate with recovery professionals, therapists, and local community leaders to develop sustainable, long-term programs.
Through this project, Jelly Roll aims to create more than just a rehabilitation center-he envisions a community of restoration and second chances, where individuals are empowered to rebuild their lives free from stigma and shame.
