Tyler Perry Donates $100,000 to Bishop Marvin Winans’ Church Building Fund Amid Viral Donation Criticism

Tyler Perry

During Sunday service at Perfecting Church, Bishop Marvin Winans shared an unexpected turn of events following last week's viral donation controversy. What began as online criticism has transformed into a remarkable outpouring of generosity from supporters across the nation.

Bishop Winans revealed that several donors have stepped forward to contribute to the ongoing building fund for the new Perfecting Church facility in Detroit. Among those contributors were COGIC Bishop Patrick Wooden and his son, who jointly donated $2,000. The most notable gift came from acclaimed filmmaker and philanthropist Tyler Perry, who contributed a stunning $100,000 to the cause.

In his remarks, Bishop Winans shared that Perry had personally invited him to share his name publicly, expressing unwavering support in the face of controversy. "What the devil meant for evil, God turned it around!" Winans exclaimed to the congregation, crediting God for turning criticism into blessing.

According to Winans, Perfecting Church's fundraising total has now surpassed $600,000, marking a significant step toward the completion of the long-awaited new building.

The Detroit pastor and gospel artist recently faced public scrutiny after a video surfaced of him "correcting" a church member, Roberta McCoy, for contributing $1,200 in the $2,000+ donor line. Despite health challenges and online debate over his fundraising methods, Bishop Winans has remained steadfast in his mission to see the vision of the new church realized.

Winans concluded the service with gratitude and renewed determination, celebrating what he described as a divine reversal: a moment where adversity inspired unexpected generosity.
