First Capital Films, in association with Faith Channel, proudly announces the upcoming theatrical release of the deeply moving drama Learning You, opening in select theaters nationwide on January 16, 2026. Inspired by true stories of families raising children with special needs, the film invites audiences into an unforgettable journey of love, healing, and second chances. The official trailer is now live - watch here.
At the heart of Learning You lies the redemptive bond between a father and his autistic son. When an architect (John Wells) embarks on a Christmas road trip with his son (Caleb Milby), what begins as a desperate attempt to reconnect becomes a transformative odyssey that touches everyone they meet - including a billionaire developer whose own son is on the spectrum. From the sterile lights of a hospital to the healing waves of Myrtle Beach, the film reminds viewers that miracles may not always appear as expected, yet they are no less real.
"Learning You honors the everyday heroes - parents and caregivers of children with autism and other special needs - whose love, sacrifice, and unseen strength reflect the best of the human spirit," says director and producer Tyler Sansom. "Every day, these families give love, patience, and strength in ways that often go unseen. This film was created to honor their journey - to remind them that they are not alone, that their stories matter, and that the love they give is changing the world."
The film features an exceptional cast including Caleb Milby, Stacy Haiduk (Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless), Daniel Roebuck (Matlock, The Fugitive), Cameron Arnett (The Forge, Overcomer), John Wells (Wolfhound, Arena Wars), Al Snow (WWE Superstar), and Read Choi (social media influencer). The screenplay, written by J. Wayne Davidson, Justen Overlander (The Chosen), Tyler Sansom, and Brad J. Silverman (Grace Unplugged), balances heartfelt realism with cinematic inspiration.
In an extraordinary act of generosity, 100 percent of the filmmakers' proceeds from Learning You will be donated to ACT (Awareness, Connection, Touch), a nonprofit founded by the filmmakers to serve families navigating the challenges of special needs. The production itself intentionally included individuals on the autism spectrum and parents of special-needs children both in front of and behind the camera, ensuring that every frame reflects authenticity and heart.
Anchored in themes of neurodiversity, unconditional love, and the quiet heroism of caregivers, Learning You transcends entertainment to become a cinematic testament to compassion. After its theatrical run, the film will be available for online purchase, followed by a streaming release through platforms yet to be announced.
