iPod Touch 6G release date slated for October, coinciding with Apple’s iPad event

 

Music lovers and Apple gadget geeks, speculations about the iPod Touch 6G release date have been confirmed: it will be scheduled for this October, coinciding with the launch of the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

The iPod Touch 6G and iPad event comes a month after the highly-anticipated iPhone 6 launch.

"Apple likes to keep the spotlight on their new iPhone models in September," website Phones review reports.

Launched in 2012, the touchscreen-based iPod Touch can be used to play music and videos, take photos, play games, and manage tasks as a personal digital assistant. Considered as one of Apple's best-selling products, more than 100 million iPod Touch units have been sold worldwide.

As to its features, fans can expect the iPod Touch 6G will run on Apple's newest operating system, the iOS 8, which will be out this fall. iOS 8 will have more photo editing features, an improved Notification Center, audio and video messaging capabilities, a predictive typing feature called QuickType, Family Sharing, which allows family members to share apps, music, and books purchased using the same credit card, iCloud Drive, mobile calls via Vi-Fi, and Continuity, among others.

But that's not all. Similar to the iPad Mini 3 and iPad Air 2, the iPod Touch 6G will be equipped with the Touch ID, which uses fingerprints as the phone's security pass code for a more personal experience. The Touch ID feature can also be used to authorize purchases the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store.
