House of Cards Season 3 Spoilers, Reveals and Review: as Frank Sets his Sights on More Power Plays, Could Claire or Meechum Organize his Death?
The third installment of House of Cards has been slated to premiere around February next year. The first and second seasons of the series were both released on February so it is safe to assume that the third installment will follow suit and it would make sense considering reports on the production and schedule of the 3rd season. Lead Actor Kevin Spacey that portrays Frank Underwood claimed that production has already begun. Filming is currently underway in Maryland and despite some hiccups that were experienced on the way; everything is still going as planned.
When we last left off, Frank finally had got his way and he is in the oval office. From the first season we have seen him scam and connive his way up the ranks after adeptly reading his competition and finally he is the president of the United States, all without a single vote (democracy is so overrated) as he would say. The show has built the momentum based upon his stratagem and ability to link the odds in his favor. Now that he has reached the summit, what next? According to show runner, Beau Williams we should not worry about that because Frank still has his sights set on more power conquests. Knowing Frank this is when we will see what real power can do.
There are other power plays likely to be seen as well. House of cards has always been about power positioning and deals. This time we might see Claire start to make moves of her own. At the same time, Rachel though she might seem like an insignificant threat might team up with the hacker and try to ruin Frank. On the British version which, the Netflix series is based upon, the lead was killed by his wife. It would be interesting to see Claire have her husband killed. No doubt Meechum, the secret service agent assigned to them, would be part of that equation. After everything that we saw on the previous installment, that is not out of the realm of possibilities, for both Meechum and Claire despite how close they are to Potus. On the other hand, we will definitely miss the one on one chats that Frank has with the audience so it may not be successful, but the activation of a plot is possible.
