Game Developer Overkill and Comic Book Creator Robert Kirkman Developing The Walking Dead Game for A 2016 Release
On Wednesday a teaser trailer for an upcoming The Walking Dead videogame was released on the web declaring that it would be brought to gamers by game developer Overkill and The Walking Dead comic book creator Robert Kirkman.
The teaser trailer didn't show much, but it has somewhat revealed the feel and tone of what the game might turn out to be.
This will not be the first attempt at adapting the comic book series, and now a famous TV series, into a videogame. Activision released the first person shooter The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct on current-gen consoles back in 2013 with fairly negative reviews from gamers and critics alike. Telltale Games also released their own game in a graphic adventure style of gameplay where players will face decision making problems to progress through the plot of the story. The game also features 4 'seasons' available as a downloadable content for purchase to finish the story of the game. Telltale's game was pretty well-received by both fans and critics.
The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, also released a statement accompanying the announcement of the new Walking Dead videogame saying, "I'm a huge fan of what Overkill and Starbreeze have been able to do with Payday 2. It's just an amazing co-operative game and I'm excited to be able to announce that Skybound is partnering with Overkill to make a Walking Dead game. I'm happy to say that it's the co-op game that all of the Walking Dead fans have been waiting for.," the statement said on SteamCommunity.
No other details of the new Walking Dead game has been released, but based on the aforementioned announcement from Robert Kirkman, it will feature co-operative gameplay.
Overkill's The Walking Dead will be released sometime in 2016.
