Country singer Rory Feek is facing fresh criticism from his estranged daughters after sharing emotional updates about his 12-year-old daughter Indiana Feek's recent health scare.
The controversy erupted after Rory revealed that Indiana-who has Down syndrome-had to be airlifted back to the hospital following complications from open-heart surgery. In a heartfelt post, he admitted there was a moment when the family feared they might lose her, sharing photos from the frightening ordeal.
But while many fans offered prayers and support, Rory's daughters, Heidi and Hopie Feek, say the posts crossed a line.
Heidi publicly accused her father of the "ongoing exploitation" of Indiana, saying she was devastated to learn about her younger sister's medical emergency through social media instead of from family.
She also questioned Rory's decision to post photos taken during Indiana's most vulnerable moments and criticized him for promoting his music at the end of the same update.
"That's not a moment to be taking photos. That's not a moment to be blogging about," Heidi said, adding that the posts made her "absolutely sick to my stomach."
Hopie echoed those concerns in a separate statement, saying she couldn't understand why anyone would think to document such a traumatic experience while Indiana was being flown to the hospital for emergency treatment.
The emotional statements are the latest chapter in a years-long family dispute. Heidi and Hopie say they have not seen Indiana in more than two years and remain involved in an ongoing legal battle with Rory over contact with their younger sister. Because Indiana is a minor, the details of those proceedings have not been made public.
Despite the public criticism, Hopie insisted she still loves her father but believes speaking out is necessary because she wants a different future for Indiana.
"People can't fathom why we fight against the father who raised us... as hard as it is for me, it's necessary," she wrote.
A representative for Rory Feek declined to comment on his daughters' latest accusations.
The heartbreaking family conflict has sparked intense debate online, with some fans defending Rory's decision to keep supporters updated on Indiana's recovery, while others agree that a child's medical crisis should remain private.
