Suki Waterhouse traveled to the same upstate New York studio where Taylor Swift and Noah Kahan have recorded to make "Loveland," her third studio album, out now.

The sessions took place at producer Aaron Dessner's Long Pond Studio, the rustic cabin where the National member has helped shape recent work from Swift, Kahan, and Gracie Abrams. Waterhouse told the Associated Press the setting felt surreal. "It's such a strange and surreal thing, pulling up to Long Pond, which is obviously such a famous studio where so many of my heroes have made such incredible music," she said.

One of the album's most unexpected moments came from Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood, who played drums on the track "Morals." Waterhouse said the connection traced back to her role in "Daisy Jones & the Six," the limited series widely seen as inspired by Fleetwood Mac's own story. "Maybe that's what made me think to reach out," she said. "I thought, you know, maybe he's seen the show. It might help me get in the door."

Waterhouse also opened up about how becoming a mother has shifted her songwriting. She and longtime partner Robert Pattinson welcomed their first child in 2024. "I can be all these things at once, and I am," she said. "I think being a parent has given me more love. It's actually helped me refine my own happiness." That sense of gratitude for a season of life once feared runs through much of "Loveland," even for listeners who'd frame that same peace as a season of answered prayer.

"Loveland" is available now on Island Records.
