Tributes are pouring in for Sass Jordan from fellow musicians after the Canadian rock singer died on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 63, with her family sharing the news on social media.
Deep Purple's Glenn Hughes said he was "heartbroken" and called her a true friend. Canadian rocker Bif Naked told Jordan she would love her forever, and The Go-Go's Kathy Valentine called her a powerhouse.
Did she help launch a Foo Fighters star? Yes. In 1994, Jordan hired a 22-year-old Taylor Hawkins as drummer for a European tour opening for Aerosmith. Hawkins later said she taught him how to be in a rock band and paid him his first rock-and-roll check. That job led to touring with Alanis Morissette, and he joined Foo Fighters in 1997. Jordan later honored the friendship with "High Road Easy," from her live album Live in New York Ninety-Four.
Was a cause of death announced? No. A cause of death has not been disclosed. Last month, her team canceled her remaining 2026 shows because of a serious medical condition that was not named. Her family has asked for privacy while they grieve.
Jordan's 1992 hit "Make You a Believer" remains her signature song. Fans remembering her can start there, or with "Tell Somebody," the single that won her the 1989 Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist.
