Reggie McFadden, the actor and stand-up comic who got his break on Def Comedy Jam and appeared on the Fox sketch series In Living Color, has died at 57.
His sister, author Bernice McFadden, told The Hollywood Reporter that the U.S. State Department notified the family he died in Tanzania, where he had lived for about 18 years.
Was a cause of death announced? No. The family does not yet know when he died or what caused it.
Who was Reggie McFadden? The Brooklyn-born comedian played various characters on In Living Color from 1993 to 1994. He appeared in 23 episodes of the show's final season. His other TV roles included Martin, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, Coach, Moesha, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and his film credits include Jacob's Ladder and Little Nicky.
What was he doing in Tanzania? His Facebook page listed him as the owner of Olduvai Records, an entertainment company, and a gold-mining business in Tanzania. He released the studio album ENJOY Vol. 1 in May 2025.
Fellow comics have started paying tribute. Comedian Tony Luewellyn called him "another fallen veteran comedy brother" on Facebook.
