'Dancing with the Stars' ABC Season 19 Premiere 2014, Julianne Hough to Return at Judge, Maksim Chmerkovskiy Out
When "Dancing with the Stars" Season 19 returns to ABC this Fall they will have a new judge and it appears to be fan favorite veteran dancer, Julianne Hough. Hough won Season 4 & 5 of "Dancing with the Stars" but left a few years back to pursue her acting career.
The 26-year-old star, has been offered the chance to fill the fourth judging position alongside current panellists Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli. In October last year, Hough had filled in for Goodman as a guest judge.
"Dancing With the Stars" Season 19 is set to premiere on September 15th on ABC.
Season 19 will also be without dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The 34-year-old dancer made an appearance on "The View" on Tuesday (July 29) and shared, ""I'm done dancing. I feel like it's time."
"I loved the experience," he added. "When I came back to the show, it was not the same...I was different, probably...When I came back, I saw this amazing talent, Val [Chmerkovskiy, his brother] included...I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better, I was taking up a huge spot."
Chmerkovskiy, returned to "Dancing with the Stars" for Season 18, after taking some time off to star in Broadway's "Forever Tango". He ended up winning the mirror ball last season with Olympian partner Meryl Davis, so he will go out a champion.
"When I came back to the show, it was not the same. I was different, probably. When I came back, I saw this amazing talent, Val (Chmerkovskiy) included," he shared of his decision to leave. "I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better, I was taking up a huge spot."
Chmerkovskiy expressed an interest in returning to the program as a judge and longtime judge Len Goodman did share about retiring from the show, however no decision has been made. Chmerkovskiy recently served as a guest judge on "Dancing With the Stars" India.
Julianne Hough has been in several movies in the last few years including Footloose and Rock of Ages. Since her "Dancing with the Stars" commitment will only be a few hours a week, she can still pursue new acting roles.
