The Equalizer Release Date, Reveals, Spoilers, and Plot: McCall Played by Denzel to have Interesting Quirks in the Movie
This is one of the most anticipated films so far as it relates to Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua. Antoine Fuqua is the director of the blockbuster hits such as Training Day, and Tears of the sun. There is a lot of excitement to see what the combination of the two will bring to theaters come September 26 which is the release date of the film. The movie is based on the life of Robert McCall played by Denzel obviously and is about his path to redemption. Apparently, he was a black ops agent and decided to fake his death to live in Boston and atone for his sins one day at a time.
This is a life that many will identify Denzel with quite easily and he does play the mystery man quite well. However, Fuqua and Denzel making a movie, does not make for a drama now does it. Robert gets close to a young girl named Teri, who gets hurt after tangling with some very violent Russian mobsters. At this time, his dormant viciousness is awoken by vengeance, much like, Man on Fire where he set on a mission to avenge a little girl who gave him hope. Obviously the gangsters have no idea what exactly, they have gotten themselves into as he blazes through them leaving a path of destruction in his wake.
The latest trailer of the film inspired a lot of excitement at the 2014 MTV VMAs and is available on you tube. The trailer features Eminem's track "Guts over Fear" which was quite fitting considering the context. According to Fuqua, McCall will represent quite an odd character. From the start, this is a person that has done and seen a lot of killing and wants no part of it for as long as possible. He has guns, and knows how to use them but would prefer hand to hand or improvised forms of close quarters combat, possibly to maim rather than kill. He will also have OCD as part of the character profile setting.
