'Schoolhouse Rock' Special September 2014 Coming Up on ABC to Rank All-Time Songs
ABC has announced that they are airing a special on the popular show "Schoolhouse Rock" coming up the first week of September. The special will be titled The ABC's of Schoolhouse Rock and celebrate educational jams and attempt to give an all-time ranking to the popular songs.
Chandra Wilson ("Grey's Anatomy") will host the special that airs on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. The special will feature interviews with the creators and writers of the Emmy-winning series.
The highlight though will be debating the Schoolhouse Rock songs and picking a favorite song of all time. The list will be sure to include "I'm Just a Bill," "Conjunction Junction," "Interplanet Janet" and "Sufferin' till Suffrage".
This can be a great family show for children and parents to watch together as school season arrives.
"Schoolhouse Rock!" was a series of animated musical educational short films (and later, videos) that aired during the Saturday morning children's programming on the U.S. television network ABC. The topics covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics. The series' original run lasted from 1973 to 1985, and was later revived with both old and new episodes airing from 1993 to 1999. Additional episodes were produced as recently as 2009 for direct-to-video release.
To coincide with the 30th anniversary, Walt Disney released a video in 2002 featuring the Top 25 songs of the series. The countdown, which was succeeded by I'm Gonna Send Your Vote to College, ran as follows, in reverse order:
- Conjunction Junction
