The Joy FM, Summer Cruise 8 Features for KING & COUNTRY As Special Guests June 17- 27
The Joy FM's Summer Cruise 8 is featuring K-Love Fan Awards Breakthrough Artist of the Year, for KING & COUNTRY, this year and they kicked off the cruise at the beginning of this week.
Summer Cruise 8 is a part of the Joy FM's the Morning Cruise series with The Joy FM's Dave, Bill and Carmen. The cruise included performances in Georgia this week and will feature Florida performances next week.
On June 17 and 18 the cruise took off to performance locations in Georgia. On June 17 the brothers performed in Safehouse Coffee & Tea, in Griffin, from 12- 1:30 p.m. and then they appeared at Redneck Gourmet, in Senoia, from 5- 7 p.m. On June 18, they performed in Chat & Choo, in Villa Rica, from 12- 1:30 p.m. and then another Red Neck Gourmet, in Newnan, from 5- 7 p.m.
During the cruise The Joy FM got to speak with brothers, Joel and Luke Smallbone, of for KING & COUNTRY about a wide array of different topics. Among the topics they discussed on June 17 were the brother's first paid job, their childhood fears, their place in the birth order of their very talented family, what it is like to be the younger brothers of Rebecca St. James and the appropriate unofficial gift for them to receive. On June 18, they discussed the story behind the title track of their recent album 'Crave,' their time on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno when they performed 'Proof of Your Love,' Joel's thoughts about honoring and respecting women and an amusing story about the brothers' father trying to order food at a drive-thru.
One of the highlights of the discussions was when Joel explained an experience that they had, after performing 'Proof of Your Love' on the Tonight Show, where they began to take a second look at what they are doing as artists. "I believe it's time for us in the creative artists, who are Christians, to reclaim creativity and lean into it, not just a little bit, not just kind of dabbling in it, but like dive in head first and say, 'We're going to push hard, we're going to wrestled, we're going to be one of those creative people on the face of the earth because under God we have the right to be,'" Joel said.
The duo works to be entertaining and exciting in their performances in order to speak to people and give them the passion and interest to hear what they have to say. "The reason why we want to be entertaining on stage as well as have a message is because when you're entertaining and you can get their attention, then you can share what God's done in your heart and say, 'Hey, you know what, this is important to me,' and honestly this is where all this comes from," Luke added.
This upcoming Monday, June 24, begins their Florida leg of the trip. They will be appearing in different locations throughout Florida from Monday (June 24) until Thursday (June 27). The Florida performance schedule is (according to THE JOY FM Website):
