Now that we're in the later months of 2014, the talk of iPad mini 3 is starting to heat up. So what's new with the iPad mini 3? When's the release date, and how much? Here is what you need to know.

The last iPad mini 2 was released in October last year, and it wasn't called the iPad mini 2, it was called iPad mini with Retina display. This means that iPad mini 3 isn't going to be called that either. News have been going around that it might be called the iPad mini Air.

Based on Apple's launch history with iPad, iPad mini 3 may be introduced during a special event in October this year, together with the new iPad Air. Both gadgets are expected to hit the market by November, if the launch trend is right.

KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also says that iPad mini 3 should arrive during the last months of 2014. He also says that the new iPad mini will have an 8 megapixel iSight camera. He also claims that the new iPad mini 3 will have the same form as the iPad mini 2.

The new iPad mini might also come in another color, perhaps gold, like the iPhone 5s. Having said that, the iPad mini3 might also come with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, like the iPhone 5s, and it is likely that the sensor is better than the one in the iPhone. The new iPad mini 3 might also come with a more powerful A8 processor.
