A press conference held on Tuesday 9^th September,  Apple announced that the release of iOS 8 will be on 17^th September as reported by bgr.com. iOS 8 will be a major upgrade of the current iOS 7 presenting new functionalities and tweaking hundreds of features.

Apple fans are ecstatic to lay their hands on the newest and latest Apple software and to them next week seems like ages away. Currently, fans have the option to install the iOS 8 GM seed even without a developer account, though BGR strongly advices the fans against the idea.

Some of the new features expected in iOS 8 include a ''Time-Lapse mode'' in the camera app which involves the same motion as the recording video. Once you are done with recording, the app processes it into a sped-up time lapse.

iOS 8 will also present separate controls for focus and exposure. once you focus, a brightness scale appears which allows you to scroll along to adjust the brightness of the image. iOS 8 also comes with a Self-timer and instant burst which basically allows the user an option of 3 -10 seconds countdown. In the self-timer mode, the camera will automatically capture 10 images instantly. iOS 8 will also allow users to access third-party photo filters in addition to the current eight built in photo filters.

It's also expected that iOS will make it possible to add third party keyboards. Swift is one such keyboard which is quite popular in the play store as reported by engadget.com.
