Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have released a new video for their cover of the song "Nature Boy", you can check out the video above.
"Nature Boy was composed in 1941 by Eden Ahbez, a wandering man from Brooklyn with long hair. It was recorded first by Nat King Cole in 1947," Gaga tweeted. "You will recognize it also famously as used in Moulin Rouge, but our rendition with the now late multi-reedist Paul Horn is spectacular."
"Horn was meant to join Tony & me for the PBS special but sadly passed just weeks before, a New Age Jazz pioneer, lets celebrate him 2day," Gaga continued. "You will hear his genius in the flute solo of our 'NATURE BOY' a solo that will echo through the world today. And forever #TheGreatPaulHorn."
Lady Gaga had been quietly recording in New York city earlier this year and it might have been what her fans expect. She pop singer has actually been working on a jazz standards album with one of her musical heros, Tony Bennett.
They announced the album Tuesday morning (July 29th) on the "TODAY" show at 30 Rockefeller Center. The new jazz album will be titled Cheek to Cheek and is set to release on September 23rd.
"The collaboration has been so wonderful. It's so natural singing with Tony," Gaga said. "I just learn so much from him every day. I'm so happy."
Bennett, 87, gushed about Gaga. "She sings so wonderful and she's actually really a great jazz singer," Bennett said. "She improvises every time we do a song. We do it over and over and it's different every time."
"Since I was 13, I've been singing jazz and I sang "Orange Colored Sky" in this event that we did together to raise money for the impoverished people of New York City," Gaga said of the song made popular by Nat King Cole. "He heard me sing the song and he said 'I love it. You singing jazz. You want to do an album together?' And I said, 'Of course!' "
This isn't the first time Bennett has worked with a younger pop singer, he was working with Amy Winehouse when she tragically passed away. Lady Gaga isn't known for jazz music by many, but she grew up singing jazz classics before she came to international pop stardom.
