Pacific Rim Stuntman to Play Jean-Claude Van Damme Character in Upcoming Kickboxer Remake; 3-Time UFC Champion and Guardians of the Galaxy Star to Join Kickboxer Remake Cast
It has been confirmed a little over a year ago that there will be an upcoming Kickboxer remake, the popular 1989 American martial arts film that starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as well as former kickboxing champion Dennis Alexio. Now that developments on the film are in progress, we managed to take a sneak peek at the epic Kickboxer remake cast.
According to recent reports, the role of Jean-Claude Van Damme-a kickboxer who goes through a brutal training in order to be able to take revenge on his defeated brother-is going to be played by actor and stuntman Alain Moussi. Moussi is an accomplished martial artist that has had stunt experience for various movies such as Brick Mansions, Pacific Rim and the more recent X-Men: Days of Future Past, as well as in the upcoming Warcraft film.
And that's not all because, apparently, the star-studded Kickboxer cast will be including Georges St. Pierre, Dave Bautista, Scott Adkins and Tony Jaa. That is obviously an impressive Kickboxer lineup right there. Aside from St. Pierre being a 3-time UFC champion, there's Bautista with his well-received, straight-faced performance as Guardians of the Galaxy's Drax the Destroyer. And then there's Scott Adkins and Tony Jaa, both incredibly impressive fighters in their own right with a variety of equally impressive movies throughout their careers.
So far there has been no news as of yet on which actor's playing which; regardless of that, a martial arts film with a late-80's JCVD vibe that puts together an all-star cast is certainly something to look forward to!
