Penny Dreadful Season 2 Cast: Reeve Carney, Timothy Dalton, and Eva Green are Still the Leads
Gothic horror series Penny Dreadful has been renewed for a new season, as confirmed by its Oscar-nominated creator, John Logan. So far, it has offered viewers heavy content on pulpiness and kink, all the while mixing in trends in pop culture set in late 19th century England. Along with the great storyline and cinematography, Penny Dreadful has been making waves for its cast.
The main cast featured in Season 1 will still be playing their roles, of course, but there would be additional characters that would make Season 2 better than before. Helen McCrory and Simon Russell Beale made their appearances throughout Season 1 of the show, and it seems that they will become regulars starting the next season. McCrory plays Madam Kali, a spiritualist, while Beale plays the eccentric Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle. Madam Kali is set to be the antagonist of the show.
Additionally,Tony-winner Douglas Hodge will be playing Bartholomew Rush (a Scotland Yard investigator), Sarah Green as Hecate (Evelyn Poole's daughter), and Jonny Beauchamp will portray a young man with a past.
Reeve Carney, Timothy Dalton, and Eva Green are still the lead stars of the show, playing Dorian Gray, Sir Malcolm Murray, and Vanessa, respectively.
Patty LuPone, a Tony award winning actress and Emmy nominee, is set to appear in the show as a guest star, taking on the role of an important character from Vanessa's past. There are no details on what exactly she will be portraying so get ready to be surprised.
Penny Dreadful has been drawing millions of viewers weekly. It is one of Showtime's most-watched shows prompting the production team and the heads of the company to conclude that they would produce a ten-episode long season set in Dublin, Ireland. Season 2 is set to premiere next year.
