Foxcatcher Movie, Spoilers, and other News; Steve Carell might get a nod at the Oscars for his role as Amateur Sports Sponsor and Multimillionaire, John du Pont
The Foxcatcher movie recently garnered positive critical reception in this year's Cannes Film Festival, and because of that, Steve Carell may actually win an Academy Award for the role. The Foxcatcher tells the story of Olympic Wrestling Champion Mark Schultz, who is portrayed by Channing Tatum. He is co-starred by Mark Ruffalo, who plays Mark Schultz's older brother Dave, Steve Carell as multimillionaire John du Pont, Anthony Michael Hall, Sienna Miller and Vanessa Redgrave.
The dark sports drama stars Carell, who plays John du Pont. Director Millers tells EW that Carell was his choice to play the part because it was a role that "just felt like one of those opportunities that would permit him to reveal an aspect of himself and unravel the talents that he had. It was an occasion to arise to for him".
Carell admits that the role of John du Pont in Foxcatcher was "juicy" however he did share that he had to do research on John du Pont's life by studying documentary films about his life and achievements and even went as far as to wear a prosthetic nose to portray the character better. The dedication and portrayal of the role gave him great accolades and is being considered for a Best Actor award in next year's Academy Awards. The movie was also shown at the 2014 Telluride Film Festival.
Catch the Foxcatcher movie in theaters on November 14 and will be released in the UK on January 9, 2015.
