Live-Action Adaptation of DC Comic's Titans May Air on Cable TV Soon
Warner Bros., which now owns DC Comics, is developing a live-action Titans television series and is in talks with cable network TNT to air it, according to Ben Fritz writing at The Wall Street Journal. Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman will be the writer and executive producer for the show, with Warner Horizon Television producing. Marc Haimes will co-write and serve as co-executive producer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, TNT is now "nearing a pilot-production order for Titans, a drama based on a group of superheroes-to-be." The series will reportedly center on the Dick Grayson character. It will follow him as he emerge from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a band of young new superheroes, which may include the alien princess Starfire, the half-demon Raven, the half-machine Cyborg and possibly more. The show is described as "a dramatic adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book titles ever."
DC's Cyborg would already be seen in the upcoming Batman v Superman film, portrayed by Ray Fisher, and Deathstroke, a staple villain in the comic book Titans, has already appeared, played by Manu Bennett, in The CW's Arrow TV series. However, it's not yet known whether Warner studios will allow the DC characters to make crossovers between or among their film and TV properties.
