FOX's Gracepoint Will Conclude Differently From Original UK Broadchurch Story, Despite Both Having Same Writer, Same Director, And Same Male Lead Actor
Gracepoint at FOX air date is set for October 2's premiere at the 9 PM time slot. A 10-episode adaptation of the 8-episode UK drama series Broadchurch, the FOX's Gracepoint TV series was re-written for American audience also by the show's original creator Chris Chibnall, who in addition co-produced. Gracepoint was also directed by Broadchurch director James Strong. As early as May, production was completed and a Gracepoint FOX trailer is now already available at Youtube and other video hosting sites. There is likewise a Gracepoint FOX wiki fan site where news, updates and reviews about the show can be regularly posted.
In the first episode of FOX's Gracepoint TV series, a boy is found dead on the beach of a small ocean-side North California town, where a detective who has been overlooked for the police-chief position finds herself teamed on the case with her testy new boss. The boy, 12-year-old Danny Solano, is an apparent victim of a homicide. Entrusted with the investigation are police detectives Emmett Carver (David Tennant who played the same role in UK's Broadchurch) and Ellie Miller (two-time Emmy winner Anna Gunn). In the course of the investigation, the two must sort through a long list of suspects that includes the boy's neighbors, friends and family. The investigation widens and gets messy as long-buried secrets are unearthed, with fear and suspicion getting the better of the once idyllic community.
According to executive producer Carolyn Bernstein, while FOX's adaptation shares the same starting point as Broadchurch, Gracepoint will be deviating from the original after a few episodes. Said she to Channel Guide: "You'll be able to see especially how the show starts to diverge in a lot of interesting ways from the original, and you'll meet new characters along the way, new red herrings, new suspects. There will be characters that you will recognize from Broadchurch who have a much greater role in our show." Marc Eastman of Are You Screening says FOX's Gracepoint "is going to end differently. It's going to be the biggest thing around when it hits."
Aside from Tennant and Gunn, the Gracepoint FOX cast is comprised of Michael Pena, Kevin Zegers, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Jessica Lucas, Jack Irvine, Virginia Kull, Sarah-Jane Potts, Josh Hamilton, Kendrick Sampson, Madalyn Horcher, Darcy Laurie, and Karyn Mott.
There is no Gracepoint ABC.
