The Assassin's Creed Movie Release Date: Taken Over By The Fantastic Four
The Assassin's Creed movie adaptation of Ubisoft's popular open-world historical-fiction video game of the same name is now in limbo. Its originally announced August 7, 2015, theatrical release date has been reassigned to 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four reboot movie starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Michael B. Jordan and Toby Kebbell according to Movie Bit.
At this point, the Fantastic Four film is under wraps and is already at the post-production stage, meaning shooting is complete. In contrast, the Assassin's Creed movie is still in pre-production. "The reason for the delay," says Dark Horizons, "is due to various issues, from script re-writes to scheduling issues involving the actors including Michael Fassbender who plays dual roles." Fassbender has been on board the Assassin's Creed movie project as early as July 2012, not only as star but also as co-producer through his DMC Film company. The movie, if it will still materialize, will be directed by Justin Kurzel. With nothing having been put on film yet, there's no Assassin's Creed movie trailer that fans of the game can look forward to.
As for the game itself, the seventh major installment in the Assassin's Creed series is entitled "Assassin's Creed Unity" and it will have Paris, France, on the eve of the French Revolution, as the game's setting. Assassin's Creed Unity will be available in stores beginning November 11. As part of its promo campaign, Ubisoft opened an "Assassin's Creed Experience" parkour obstacle course during the July 24-27 San Diego Comic-Con where fans were able to take part in executing stunts mimicking those of a master assassin. News and updates about the upcoming game are available on the Assassin's Creed wiki fan site.
