Among the seven installments of the action series, this is the first to follow The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, since the three previous installments take place between 2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift. This will also be the last film appearance of Paul Walker who passed away last November 30, 2013, while the movie was in production.

Fast & Furious 7 stars Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Paul Walker as Brian O'Conner, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, and John Ortiz as Campos. Other projects of lead actor Vin Diesel next year are Fast & Furious: Supercharged and The Last Witch Hunter.

Rumors say that Iggy Azalea is set to make her cameo appearance in the film. In the early part of January 2014, reports say that Walker's character will be retired instead of being dead. A number of new scenes will be progressed to retire his character, enabling the franchise to proceed. The Daily News reported last March 21, 2014 that the studio has hired actors with the same physique very close to Walker's, with his face and voice used with computer-generated imagery (CGI).

The movie was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia last September 2013. Abu Dhabi has also been confirmed as one of the filming locations. To film song driving sequences, Pikes Peak Highway in Colorado was closed in September.

The film was written by Chris Morgan and directed by James Wan.

Fast & Furious 7 is scheduled to be released on April 10, 2015.
