Filming of the most awaited Sherlock Season 4 will commence this January 2015. As you can see both actors, Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, have been very busy lately with the upcoming The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, specially that the release of the film is pretty soon.

Meanwhile, show's co-creator Steven Moffat claimed that the new season will top the epic finale of season 3, with rumors that Moriarty will be back from the grave in one form or another.  Also, the idea of another "Holmes" brother is in the works, and it is rumored that Cumberbatch's co-star in the Steven Spielberg helmed movie War Horse, the dashing Loki, Tom Hiddleston, is the rightful candidate.

"We practically reduced our cast to tears by telling them the plan. Honestly, Mark [Gatiss] and myself are so excited with what we've got coming up, probably more excited than we've ever been about Sherlock. ... Honestly I think we can [top the last series]," he told Hollywood Reporter.

"Sherlock" season 4 is returning to BBC in early 2016 with no official date yet. However, the series will also hold a Christmas special planned in December 2015 and will be based on the mystery "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle."
