Facebook Apologizes to the LGBT Community After the 'Names Controversy'
Facebook has apologized to the LGBT community for being harsh to them after they had suspended several accounts based on drag names. The Chief Product Officer of FB Chris Cox has revealed that they still have long way to go. According to him the accounts need to have the real names and not necessarily the legal name.
A single user had flagged many drag names and FB had suspended all those accounts without doing any reality check. Now the user had been identified. This has created animosity in the LGBT community and they had removed their accounts from the site. Facebook officials had a meeting with the LGBT community wherein it was cleared that FB will come up with more authentic tools to improve the social networking site.
There has been an apology from Cox on behalf of the company. It has made clear to the users that the new policy would come up with strong checks, so that the security of the users is not damaged. Cox has cleared that the apology is meant for the drag kings, transgender, drag queens and other members of LGBT society, as the site was tough on them. In his apology note Cox made it clear that the suspension of account was not intentional. FB screens all the flagged account and then asks the flag account user to show some ID proof. The interest is to save FB from anonymity accounts.
There is so much of violence and crime happening through internet and in cyber world hence FB's efforts are to stop people from creating fake profiles. Cox has promised to provide improved services from social networking site with smooth experience in coming days. He has also promised to provide best customer service to the accounts that got flagged. The reason is to manage the FB accounts in an appropriate manner without causing any harm to the authentic ones.
Facebook has become a leading social networking site in past few years leaving all other contemporary site behind. It has become a duty of Facebook to provide satisfaction to its users and keep them happy.
