Puss in Boots 2 Nine Lives & 40Thieves:  Release Date, News, Rumors, Updates and Reveals:  Movie to be Released on December 21st 2018

2011 was the last time we saw puss with his amazingly large and sweet eyes and with Shrek winding up fans abandoned all hope of ever seeing the Zoro-esq cat again. I am here with some good news for Shrek Puss fans and some slightly less good news.  The good news is: There is a sequel on the way. The slightly less good news is: Its release date is December 21st 2018. That will be 7 years after the first Puss in boots movie and forever away in the future to fans but all we can do is be patient and tick off the days on our calendars till then.

Apparently, the movie quotes and more site claims, the first movie was stand alone and was supposed to show us what Puss was before he met Shrek and his merry band of magical creatures. The studio stated that this was because at the time they weren't sure what direction Shrek would take and they did not want to write conflicting stories. Now that Shrek is done we wonder if the Puss in Boots story will still exclude Shrek and family or DreamWorks will use this opportunity to let fans see their favorite ogre. The title makes us believe that there will be some version of the Ali Baba story. Ali Baba and the forty thieves is one of the stories from one thousand and one nights. In the story Ali Baba discovers a cave where a band of thieves hides their treasure. He learns how to gain access to this cavern which is by saying the words 'Open Sesame'.

He goes on to avoid getting killed by the band of thieves and gets to keep the treasure.  We have no idea where in this plot Puss will fit or if this is the direction DreamWorks will choose to go but it would be interesting to see a modern take on this story that isn't from Disney. With a release date so far away the only thing we can say for sure is that Antonio Banderas should be coming back to voice our favorite cat. As soon as we get more information you will be the first to know.
