Pacific Rim 2 Release Date, Reveals, Reviews, News and Rumors: Del Toro Already Psyched Up for Next Installment
The second installment of Pacific Rim has been scheduled to premiere around April 2017. The director Guillermo Del Toro stated last month that he is working on the script and is going to be reuniting with Hunnam who is going to reprise the role of the Jaeger pilot Raleigh Becket. The actor admitted to reading the script and is excited to go back to filming for the movie. On the other hand, the cast and the crew are still waiting around for the green light. Hunnam told Nuke, the Fridge, "We got a release date, got a script ordered but its Hollywood. You never know until you're on set, but they seem very, very enthusiastic and excited about it. I've talked a little bit with Guillermo about the story he wants to tell".
So it seems that the main character is not the most enthusiastic about the movie sequel, but he does have a point. This is Hollywood and things turn on a dime faster than you would think. However, Pacific Rim is too big a franchise to pass over. So the most they can do is just delay it, but the movie is inevitable. After the announcement of the movie sequel, the director from "Hellboy" also revealed that he is going to start on the design production for the movie and even start scouting film locations.
He did not say a lot about the plot for the next movie, but probably because it is too early to say anyway. The filming for the upcoming installment is supposed to begin next month and if everything goes according to schedule, Pacific Rim 2 should come out by 2017. There seems to be a lot of unsure feelings about the movie though even though the first installment was a success. For example, Legendary Pictures has not given the thumbs up for the movie as yet, but he is going to continue on the script alongside Zack Penn. Let us hope that everything works out. Some of the roles that are expected to reprise for the next installment other that Hunnam include Rinko Kikuchi and Max Martini.
