The Saga Continues: 'Twilight' Short Film Series Tipped on Facebook For 2015 Release
Even the most beautiful song has an ending. Likewise, no matter how high grossing a movie series was, it is meant to face its 'end'. But good news to Twilight saga fanatics, Bella and Edward might be back for more!
The most loved Young Adult novel-turned-movie series is set to continue its story as Lions Gate announced recently the new "Twilight Saga" short films, set to be shown exclusively on Facebook in 2015, Christian Post reported.
Partnering with novelist Stephenie Meyer and the social media giant Facebook, Lions Gate is currently looking for five female directors that will be crafting the short films, based from the best selling trilogy novels. The movie series' producers entitled the search, to be hosted on Tongal, as "The Storytellers: New Voices of Twilight Saga."
A panel is set to choose and eventually mentor the five female directors for the upcoming five short films. Judges includes Meyer, Kristen Stewart, who played Bella, and Catherine Hardwicke, "Twilight" movie director.
Aside from reviving the saga, Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, also wanted to promote women empowerment through the five short films. "The female voice is something that has become more and more important to me as I've worked in the film industry," she said in an interview reported by Variety. The Women in Film organization is also a co-partner for this new project for Twilight Saga fans.
According to Christian Times, some viewed this step as Lions Gate's attempt to test the waters for a possible sixth installment for the Twilight Saga franchise.
To the dismay of fans, no characters from the original film will be seen on all the five short flicks as reported by Metro. Despite this fact, Lions Gate claims that a hefty budget is still needed to be able to revive the "Twilight" Saga.
Five Twilight characters will be featured in the five short films. A final story plot has not been announced yet but with a lot of interesting vampires, wolves and even mortal characters present in the "Twilight" saga, fans will surely be waiting for these short films.
