Another Action Film Remake? The 1989 Jean Claude Van Damme Original Starrer Has An Awesome Kickboxer Remake Cast
It seems film remakes are becoming a genre and hitting the headlines these days, and one juicy tidbit of news is the 3D action film remake of the original Jean Claude Van Dam starrer, Kickboxer. This is not a rumor anymore because it is confirmed that martial artist and stuntman, Alain Moussi takes the 1989 role of Van Dam in the said movie as Kurt.
Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2), and Tony Jaa (Ong-Bak) join Moussi in the Kickboxer remake cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Brian O'Shea (The Exchange CEO) said, "Kickboxer will display a style of acrobatic, rapid-fire martial arts action that Scott Adkins is increasingly becoming synonymous with. Along with Tony Jaa, the remake film has compiled a talented cast to push the boundaries of the martial arts form." Chinese martial arts movie director Stephen Fung is commissioned to direct the Kickboxer remake.
With a roster of great martial arts talents rounded up for the Kickboxer remake, this should be a very interesting film action lovers would expect to enjoy watching. Who among these cool guys will play Tong Po's role as Thailand's undefeated kickboxing champion? Well, it is none other than WWE star Dave 'Batista' Bautista who will fill Michel Qissi's role in the movie.
There is no date yet when we'll be given a glimpse of the film in the Kickboxer remake trailer. All we know for now that it is set to debut sometime in 2015.
