"How to Train Your Dragon 3": DreamWorks' Third Installment Moves Its Premiere in 2017
The fans of the animated film "How to Train Your Dragon" will be thrilled since DreamWorks had announced that the adventures of Hiccup and his dragon Toothless will return to the big screen.
The franchise, "How to Train Your Dragon", is based on the English book series by Cressida Cowell. It chronicles the adventures of a young Viking named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. He is the son of Stoick the leader of the Viking island of Berk.
The recent installment for the film series centered on Vikings' victory over Drago. Hiccup reunites with his mother. Later, his father dies in an attempt to protect him from the manipulated Toothless. The film concludes as Hiccup became the chieftain of their place, while a Statue of Stoick was built in his honor.
DreamWorks and Fox revealed that the second installment to "How to Train Your Dragon" movie had roughly made $600 million worldwide, since May 2014. The sequel made $174 million in the United States plus $426 million more globally. As of October 8, 2014, "How to Train Your Dragon 2" has grossed an estimate of $176 million in North America plus $438 million in other countries, for a total of $614 million worldwide. It has surpassed "Rio 2" and "The Lego Movie". Its achievement made the animated movie the highest grossing animated film of the year
The film's voice cast includes Jay Baruchel as Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, son of the Viking chief, Stoick; America Ferrera as Astrid Hofferson, Hiccup's girlfriend; and Cate Blanchett as Valka, Stoick's wife and Hiccup's long lost mother.
The third installment is set to be piloted by Director-writer Dean DeBlois, with Bonnie Arnold as the producer. According to Variety, the upcoming fantasy film will be under the same creative team just like its predecessors.
Initially, the movie was plotted to premiere in theaters on June 17, 2016, as revealed in Flickeringmyth. According to Indiewire, a reason to the delay of schedule is to give way to Pixar's "Finding Dory". With no cited reason from DreamWorks, the much-anticipated upcoming film "How to Train Your Dragon 3" is moved and set to be released in theaters and cinemas on June 9, 2017.
