"The Walking Dead" Season 5 Premiere Draws Record Herds From Its Viewers; Sixth Season Renewed- a Breath of Life, Survivors Reveal
AMC's "The Walking Dead" returned to the small screen last October 12, 2014 (Sunday). And as expected, fans were both thrilled and scared of what they're seeing on their televisions. Fans have tuned into the AMC zombie drama and the show posted a high rating. "Walking Dead's" first epsiode for the fifth season drew in 17.3 million viewers. The latest rating is 7% higher compared to the last season.
AMC reported that the "The Walking Dead's" sunday night's episode successfully delivered a very high rating, actually the highest one in any zombie apocalypse history. Because of the impact, AMC predicted that it would still go up continuously to 22 million viewers during "The Walking Dead" playback.
The premiere episode of "The Walking Dead" is packed with everything: from the cannibal scenes to the emotional family reunion. Viewers can hardly leave their couches. Having all of these elements in one show, it comes as no surprise that the Sunday Night Football is outperformed by the AMC highest rating "The Walking Dead." This is according to the Nielsen Media Research.
The main focus of Season 5 on its first and few episodes would be the residents of Terminus. The biggest and common questions during the last season being raised was, "is Beth still alive?" or "What happened to Beth?" well, at least viewers know that Beth is fine and alive although she's not on her best condition.
Even AMC's President, Charlie Collier is not surprised that the show is doing so well. "It's a Dead man's party, who could ask for more?" he said. He also said in that "The Walking Dead" is just one of the finest and rare shows that attract or calls the attention of its viewers.
As we all know "The Walking Dead" has a book a comic version having six issues, but MC created a very creative and unique storyline that viewers linger to it and keep asking for more. In Season 5, Rick Grimes will be fighting crazily against cannibals. Does it sound appealing? Does it also mean that "The Walking Dead" is coming to its end? Not yet anyway, as the AMC network already renewed the sixth season of the show.
During the sixth season, there would be a breath of new life to the show. While "The Walking Dead's" first seasons were all about escaping the zombies and fighting off killers, "The Walking Dead's" Season 6 will be depicting several groups of people who survived coming from the different places.
