Taylor Swift's 'Out of the Woods' Is Better Than 'Shake it Off'
Taylor Swift has released her second single "Out of the Woods" in her fifth album 1989, Tuesday midnight on iTunes. The song is all about a tumultuous, unclear, and shaky relationship.
Listen To The Song:
"Out of the Woods" is produced and written by Jack Antonoff and Taylor Swift herself while the vocal production was by Max Martin of the MXM Productions. In her promotional video, which was released Monday, Taylor said that the song is, actually, one of her few favorites. She even added that her goal in coming up with this album is to set a special music landscape that will depict the exact emotions that the song is bringing out.
Her statement has just proven that the "Out of the Woods" single fits her canon better than the previously released "Shake it Off". While "Shake it Off" is pop driven, clean, and too perfect is some ways, "Out of the Woods" has presented that 'something' we're all used to seeing Taylor do- creating heartwarming songs that touch her listeners with the moving stories of emotions, heartbreak, and love. The song is just groovy and poppy yet packed with a lingering emotional hangover.
"Out of the Woods" sounded more like Swift's "State of Grace" which was part of her "Red" album in 2012. The song, also, has delivered the promises that Swift had burst-out in the earlier stages of the song-making process. On live stream, she announced in August that the song will be inspired by the pop music of the late 80s. This was evident in the song's backing beats that sounded like Tears for Fears while the bridge was more like Coldplay. Lastly, her melodies were inspired by the music of Simple Minds.
When the song "Shake it Off" was released, Taylor claimed that the album would definitely conquer the hits chart, but she's lost her heart in achieving it shortly after. With the newest single "Out of the Woods", Taylor has proven that she isn't wrong, after all.
While listeners started to dissect the song's lyrics, Swift used her savvy marketing skills in reminding people to buy her album through her tweets.
"Out of the Woods" is now on iTunes.
