Nexus 6 Release Date and Price in US: Google Will Take Preorders Soon
Google has pleasantly surprised the world by announcing a new smartphone and tablet that will run on Android 5.0 aka Lollipop. While there is doubt that Google tries to make every product special and unique, Nexus 6 different from any other smartphone available in the market today for a number of reasons.
This device is manufactured with Motorola, a company which is in tremendous form in creating revolutionary phones over the last few years. Contoured in an aluminum frame, the screen size of this smartphone looks identical to Moto X, but it has AMOLED display. With 13-megapixel back camera and 2-megapixel front camera, this phone offers a mega 3220 mAh, which lasts over a day. Nexus 6 is available in two variants of 32 GB and 64 GB storage space and it is water resistant too. Running on 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with quad-core CPU (APQ 8084-AB), Adreno 420 GPU and 3 GB of RAM it will be one of the smoothest devices on the market. The visual experience of Android Lollipop will further make it a better device in every way. Interestingly, Google claims that the phone battery will last for over six hours with just 15 minutes of charging time. It's a claim that will soon be tested with the release.
According to official Google Blog, the company will be accepting preorders on the phone from Oct 29 and it should be available in less than a month's time in US. However, Google has not partnered with any of the network carriers for now but they soon will have to do so. Interestingly, the unlocked model comes at $649, which is $349 more than Google's previous smartphone models. Quite obviously the market will be very limited if users cannot get the phone on contract with some of the leading network carriers in the country. When iPhone 6 is available at just $299 and iPhone 6 Plus at just $399 down payment and monthly installments with Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T, why should anyone think of getting the Nexus 6? It's a critical question that Google will have to find answers to.
