New Apple TV: Smart Gadgets Take Over But Will It Finally Be Released?
The Apple TV, a television set made by Apple way back, was not mentioned during the company's recent event on Oct. 16.
According to Time, Apple unveiled a couple of new models of its products including new iPads, a 5k resolution iMac, and more application updates. Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, also revealed that software development tools for the company's upcoming smartwatch will be released this November.
The CEO also showed a slideshow of the evolution of Apple's devices and products, but the Apple TV was nowhere to be seen.
The idea for the Apple TV came before Steve Jobs became deceased. Jobs told Walter Isaacson, his biographer, that he wants to produce his own TV and has finally thought of a way to make a simpler user interface.
With the recent improvements in television, cable steaming, the new Apple TV may be possible soon.
HBO, one of America's favorite premium cable networks, have recently announced that it would soon offer separate subscriptions to their programs without the requirement of a cable bundle, according to Washington Post.
Another big shot in the broadcasting television networks, CBS, also unveiled that they will be offering live streaming of their television programs for a price.
Even Lionsgate and Tribeca Enterprises have joined in the current trend by creating a joint streaming service.
Because of the increase in the support for streaming services, the Apple TV might finally see the light of day.
In a report by The Wall Street Journal, Apple and Comcast were discussing earlier this year for negotiations with Apple TV's dedicated Comcast cables. However, the discussions currently does not have any improvements.
The Diffusion Group senior adviser Joel Espelien said that other industry giants are already in the TV streaming service. Google currently has Choromecast, Amazon has the Fire TV, and Roku allowed users access to the streaming service years back starting in 2008. It is also cheap as the services are made for devices with a price range under $100. He also said that the Apple TV will have to bring new and innovative features in order to compete with others.
