'Project Greenlight' HBO Season 4 with Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Back After a Decade Hiatus to Help First-Time Film Directors, Watch Here (VIDEO)
Good friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are brining back their show "Project Greenlight" after close to a decade hiatus.
The series originally aired Season 1 & 2 in 2001 and 2003 on HBO then moved to Bravo in 2005 for Season 3. The show has been off the air since then, but will be returning to HBO for Season 4.
"Project Greenlight" is now accepting submissions, with Damon and Affleck looking to give opportunity to a first-time director in the reality series. The show will follow the same format as the first three seasons.
Filmmakers can submit a three-minute short film at the official ProjectGreenlight website through August 8, 2014, for their chance to be on the show's upcoming fourth season.
After a winner is selected from the submissions, they send a camera crew to follow the first-time director through the entire film process, from pre-production to casting, principal photography and the final edits during post-production.
The winner will get the resources of a "Hollywood-vetted" script, and an experienced cast and crew, along with industry veterans on hand to guide them. They will also have to face the same struggles of professional directors, with studios and producers barking at them, while chasing a rigorous schedule and trying to balance a tight budget.
"Project Greenlight" was created by Alex Keledjian, developed by Eli Holzman and produced by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Sean Bailey, and Chris Moore through their production company LivePlanet, along with Miramax Films.
HBO announced in April 2014 that "Project Greenlight" will return for a fourth season. Affleck said, "'Project Greenlight' was ahead of its time. Now that technology has caught up to the concept, we thought it was a perfect time to bring it back."
