Kirk Franklin to Receive Prestigious Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards

BET is proud to announce that gospel music trailblazer Kirk Franklin will be honored with the Ultimate Icon Award at the 25th Annual BET Awards, airing live on June 9, 2025, from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to music and his unwavering commitment to uplifting communities, Kirk Franklin joins a celebrated list of past recipients including Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, and Jamie Foxx. Franklin has redefined the sound and reach of gospel music, fusing it with R&B, hip-hop, and contemporary rhythms to create a genre-defying body of work that has inspired generations.
"Kirk Franklin is not only a musical genius but also a cultural icon whose impact transcends genres and generations," said Connie Orlando, EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET. "His commitment to faith, community, and the power of music makes him the perfect honoree for this milestone year."
The 2025 BET Awards will be hosted by Kevin Hart, returning for his second consecutive year. The live broadcast will feature performances from top artists including Lil Wayne, GloRilla, Teyana Taylor, Playboi Carti, and Leon Thomas.
This year's show will also feature a special 25th anniversary tribute to the iconic show 106 & Park, bringing together legendary hosts and performers including Bow Wow, T.I., and Mya, in a nostalgic celebration of one of BET's most beloved music platforms.
