Ike Turner Jr., Son of Tina Turner and Ike Turner Sr., Passes Away at 67

Ike Turner Jr., musician and son of Tina Turner and Ike Turner Sr., has passed away at the age of 67. He died Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital following complications from kidney failure.
Born in 1958 to Ike Turner Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, Ike Jr. was adopted and raised by Tina Turner during her marriage to Ike Sr. from 1962 to 1978. Immersed in music from childhood, he was taken out of school at just 13 years old to join his father on the road, performing and learning the craft firsthand. Over the decades, Ike Jr. carved out his own career in the industry as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and bandleader.
Ike Jr. released several projects under his own name and also worked behind the scenes with a wide range of artists, keeping alive the tradition of soul, R&B, and rock music that ran through his family's story. In 2006, he won a Grammy for producing Risin' With the Blues, an album by his father.
Despite the weight of a complicated family history, Ike Jr. was known to friends and colleagues as someone who carried a deep resilience and personal faith. In interviews later in life, he often spoke about his belief in God as his anchor through years of health struggles, including chronic heart issues and a recent stroke in September. His trust in Christ, he said, gave him hope in both music and life, even in the face of declining health.
Ike Jr. was only 67 years old, but his journey left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He is remembered not only as part of one of music's most famous families, but also as a man who leaned on his faith and his love of music until the very end.
Arrangements for memorial services will be announced by the family at a later date.
