VaShawn Mitchell’s “Make A Way” Claims #1 on Billboard & Mediabase Gospel Airplay Charts

Grammy‑nominated, seven‑time Stellar Award‑winning gospel artist VaShawn Mitchell celebrates a soaring milestone as his new single, Make A Way, rises to #1 on both Billboard and Mediabase Gospel Airplay charts-a testament to his enduring impact in gospel music and worship ministry. Mitchell shared his gratitude, saying, "All glory to God! Thank you to every radio station, program director, and supporter believing in this song. Grateful beyond words. Let's keep going!"
Released in March 2025, Make A Way introduces a fresh urban inspirational groove that diverges from Mitchell's traditional worship sound while retaining his signature emotional depth. Co‑written with N. Grier, Anthony Jawan McEastland, Karl Jarzhino Daniel, and Marcus Kincy, the track delivers a powerful message of hope that youth choirs around the world are already embracing to remind listeners that "He'll make a way." The single is accompanied by a concept video showcasing bold visual storytelling, dynamic choreography, and innovative fashion, offering audiences a new aesthetic experience.
A native of Harvey, Illinois, and raised in Chicago-the birthplace of gospel music-VaShawn Mitchell began his ministry early as a prodigious choir director and later served as Minister of Music at Sweet Holy Spirit Church under the mentorship of Lonnie Hunter. Over a 25‑year career, he has produced powerful worship songs and choir recordings through his collective "VaShawn Mitchell & Friends," uplifting congregations worldwide. Mitchell's breakthrough came in 2010 with Triumphant, featuring the mega‑hit "Nobody Greater," which was named the most‑played gospel song of 2011 by Billboard and dominated the charts for nine weeks. That year he earned 11 Stellar Award nominations, winning six, and garnered Grammy and Dove Award nominations for both song and album. His catalog includes acclaimed projects such as Created 4 This, Unstoppable, Elements, and Chapter X.
Beyond artistry, Mitchell serves as President & CEO of the Gospel Heritage Foundation, dedicated to training worship leaders, musicians, and songwriters through summits and mentorship initiatives. In 2023, he was a featured visiting artist at Berklee's Gospel Performance Program, where he guided young artists with master classes rooted in spiritual and musical excellence.
With Make A Way now at the top of the charts, VaShawn Mitchell continues to inspire with music that blends heartfelt worship and innovative sound, pointing listeners back to faith and the hope found in God's promises.
