New Inspirational Film "Truth & Treason" Tells the True Story of a Teenage Resistance Fighter in Nazi Germany

Angel Studios, the film and TV platform powered by nearly one million members of the Angel Guild, has announced the addition of TRUTH & TREASON to its 2025 theatrical slate. Based on a remarkable true story, the film follows Helmuth Hübener, a courageous 16-year-old in Nazi Germany who forms a resistance group with his friends Karl and Rudi after witnessing the arrest of his Jewish friend. Produced by Kaleidoscope Pictures, TRUTH & TREASON will debut in theaters worldwide beginning October 17, 2025.
Originally announced as a limited series titled Truth & Conviction, the project transitioned into a feature film after production began. Both Angel Studios and the filmmakers agreed that the scale and power of the story demanded a big-screen experience.
"TRUTH & TREASON is a riveting, edge-of-your-seat film, where one teenage boy stands against the deadliest threat the world has ever faced," said Brandon Purdie, EVP & Head of Theatrical at Angel Studios. "Matt Whitaker's direction brings Helmuth Hübener's incredible story to life, thrilling and inspiring audiences while leaving them profoundly moved. Stories of this magnitude were made for the biggest screen possible-a cinematic experience best felt in a theater, where every moment resonates with full intensity."
You can watch the official trailer for Truth & Treason on Angel Studios' official website:
"I was fortunate to discover one of the most powerful stories to come out of WWII, and almost no one has heard of it. I can't wait for the world to experience this incredible story of heroism," said writer-director Matt Whitaker.
TRUTH & TREASON stars Rupert Evans (The Man in the High Castle, Hellboy: The Seeds of Creation), Ewan Horrocks (The Last Kingdom), Ferdinand McKay, Daf Thomas, and Nye Occomore. The film is directed by Matt Whitaker (Saints and Soldiers), who co-wrote the screenplay with Ethan Vincent. Producers include Russ Kendall (Instrument of War) and John Foss (The Card Counter).
Filmed on location in Lithuania with Baltic Film Services (Chernobyl, Stranger Things), the production features cinematography by Bianca Cline (Rust, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) and an original score by Aaron Zigman (The Notebook, The Six Triple Eight).
TRUTH & TREASON opens worldwide in theaters on October 17, 2025.
