Dolly Parton Postpones Las Vegas Residency Due to Health Challenges But Says God Hasn’t Told Her to Retire

Dolly Parton

Country music legend Dolly Parton has announced that her much-anticipated Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, originally set for December 2025, will now take place in September 2026. The six-show run, titled Dolly: Live in Las Vegas, has been postponed as the 79-year-old icon undergoes a series of medical procedures requiring her to rest and recover before returning to the stage.

In a personal message to her fans, Parton explained that she would not be able to rehearse and prepare the show to the standard she expects of herself and the experience her audience deserves. She emphasized that the decision was made out of love and respect for her fans, stating, "You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you." With her trademark humor, she added that it was time for her "100,000-mile checkup," making clear that the procedures are not cosmetic, but essential for her overall health.

Reassuring her millions of admirers, Parton declared that retirement is not in her plans. "Don't worry about me quittin' the business because God hasn't said anything about stopping yet. But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you."

The announcement follows a string of health-related setbacks for the superstar. Earlier this year, she missed a scheduled appearance at Dollywood to unveil a new attraction after complications from a kidney stone led to an infection. In March, she also endured the heartbreaking loss of her husband of nearly six decades, Carl Dean. Despite these challenges, Dolly remains steadfast in her commitment to music and her fans.

Even in this season of slowing down, Dolly continues to work on creative projects. Her new memoir, Star of the Show: My Life on Stage, is set to release in November 2025, offering fans an intimate look at her extraordinary journey in music and entertainment. A Broadway stage musical based on her life is also planned for 2026, further cementing her legacy as one of the most influential and enduring artists of all time.

Tickets for the rescheduled Las Vegas dates will be honored in September 2026, with refunds available for those unable to attend. Fans can expect the same level of energy, warmth, and artistry that has made Dolly Parton one of the most beloved performers in history.

Through it all, Dolly's message remains one of faith, resilience, and joy. While she acknowledges the need to take a step back temporarily, she assures her audience that her story on stage is far from over.
