Chandler Moore Files Lawsuit Against Maverick City Music CEO Norman Gyamfi, Alleges Forgery and Financial Misconduct

Chandler Moore

Grammy Award-winning worship leader Chandler Moore has filed a federal lawsuit against Norman Gyamfi, CEO of Maverick City Music and TRIBL Records, citing multiple allegations including forgery, breach of fiduciary duty, and financial misconduct. The legal action, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on October 1, 2025, also names Maverick City Music and TRIBL Records as defendants.

According to the complaint, Moore alleges that Gyamfi forged his signature on contracts and redirected royalty payments and intellectual property rights that were rightfully his. The suit claims that Gyamfi orchestrated unauthorized transactions, including the sale of master recordings to Sony's The Orchard in 2021, and that Moore was denied over $800,000 in owed royalties and payments tied to recent projects.

"These actions represent a deep betrayal of trust," said a source close to Moore. "Chandler entered these partnerships in good faith, only to discover that key agreements and financial records were manipulated without his knowledge or consent."

The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages, the nullification of allegedly fraudulent contracts, and the restoration of Moore's ownership rights over his recorded works.

In conjunction with the legal filing, Moore has also announced his departure from Maverick City Music, marking the end of a defining era in modern worship music. Calling the decision "bittersweet," Moore stated that he is "grateful for the music, memories, and ministry shared over the years" but feels "called to pursue a new chapter of creativity and integrity."

Maverick City Music co-founder Jonathan Jay has denied the allegations, calling them "wildly untrue" and maintaining that the collective has "acted in good faith in all business matters." As of press time, Gyamfi has not issued an official public statement.

Moore, known for his heartfelt performances and songwriting on hits such as "Jireh" and "Promises," has confirmed that he will continue to create and release new music independently, with upcoming projects expected in early 2026.
