Maverick City's Chandler Moore Encourages Worship Leaders Not to be Afraid of Counter-Cultural Songs

Maverick City's Chandler Moore encourages worship leaders and songwriters not to be afraid of writing and singing songs that are counter-cultural. This is because many of the teachings of Scripture are contradictory to the values of this world. Moore explains, "Kingdom principles are usually the opposite of culture."
Maverick City and Elevation Worship's "Wait for You" is such an example. "Wait On You" is a declaration of God's faithfulness, even when circumstances may be discouraging, and it's the latest single from Old Church Basement, out Friday, April 30th.
Chandler goes on to talk about the song's lyrics, "In our culture, waiting is a often a time full of anxiety. It's a process full of impatience. The ambition in us tells us waiting isn't necessary. But in His Kingdom, waiting time isn't wasted time. It's a time of preparation. It's a time of testing. It's a time of renewal. The promise is - those who wait will be strengthened.
So if you're weary, you should try waiting,Isaiah 40:31 "

"Wait On You" is a collaborative track co-written by Steven Furtick, Chandler Moore, Dante Bowe, Chris Brown, Tiffany Hudson, and Brandon Lake (members of both Maverick City & Elevation Worship). The theme draws upon inspiration from The Bible, specifically Isaiah 40: "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint."
"This song takes me on a journey through what I really believe about God. Waiting on something God's promised to me challenges how good and all-knowing I believe Him to be," says Maverick City Music's Chandler Moore. "We pray that this song reminds you that God will always strengthen those who wait on Him."
