Max Lucado Shares Vision from God That Transformed His Perspective After Health Diagnosis

Max Lucado, renowned author, pastor, and speaker, has opened up about a life-changing spiritual vision that reshaped his perspective following a serious health diagnosis.
In 2021, Lucado was diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm, a potentially life-threatening condition. Initially, he experienced fear and anxiety, struggling to process the news. During a time of prayer and reflection, Lucado describes experiencing a vivid vision of God's hand gently resting over his heart. This moment brought him profound peace, reaffirming his faith and trust in God's care.
"It may sound supernatural or mystical," he said, "but I can't deny that God gave me that vision. I believe His hand is on it, and it always was, even when I didn't recognize it."
The aneurysm, he shared, has grown only slightly since the diagnosis, and today, he's grounded in a peace that can only come from God, regardless of what the future holds.
"I do not want to leave my family. I do not want to leave my precious wife. But I'm excited to see Jesus whenever that time comes," he reflected. "I really am at peace. That doesn't mean I want to leave. I don't. But I don't have a bucket list. My best life is after this life. I'm very, very grateful for that blessing."
Lucado credits this vision with helping him move from fear to calm assurance, allowing him to embrace life with renewed faith, even as he continues to monitor his condition. He encourages others facing trials to lean on their faith, trusting that God is present in every circumstance.
Lucado is one of the world's most widely read Christian authors, having sold over 145 million books worldwide. He serves as a teaching minister at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, and is known for his inspirational messages that blend practical wisdom, humor, and biblical truth. Lucado's works focus on hope, grace, and God's love, touching the lives of millions through books, sermons, and public speaking.
